Meet our Growing Team Leader, Susan Schleisner, and how growing up with her grandfather in the garden lead her to pursue a degree in Horticulture and continue her passion in this industry all of her life. From communication and planning what crops are best for the season, maintaining their growth during the season, she finds the ability to control and quality of what’s being produced the major factor to the Vande Hey Company.
After we make the decision on what we want to grow and how much we want to grow it, you coordinate all the pieces into one like a jigsaw puzzle. We buy in plugs, grow from cuttings, or grow from seed and everything is different, some take longer lengths of time, or some need certain temperatures or environments. Once they start arriving, we get to planting and try to keep up with the growth!
